PAS DE BASQUE GLISSÉ EN AVANT

Updated: Aug 10, 2023

This diagram reads right to left

A pas de basque glissé is a step which stays close to the ground and travels from side to side from one croisé position to another. A pas basque can also be jumped this is known as a pas de basque sauté. In the BBOdance syllabus the foot comes through a petit retire position but you can also perform this step with a chassé through first position.

Below I will describe step by step how this is performed;

1. Standing croisé facing DSL fifth position right foot in front* open the arms first to second

2. Tendu en fondu the right leg with the arms in second

3. Rond the right leg to the DSR croisé with the arms still in second

4. Standing croisé step onto the right leg en fondu with the left leg in a petit retiré derrière the arms now come down to bras bas

5. Step the left leg forward into fourth position in a plié with the arms coming to first position

the arms to third and straighten the left leg with the right leg in a tendu derrière

6. Close the right leg to fifth position keeping the arms in third

*This step can also commence with the left foot in front facing DSR

At Balletic we follow the bbodance ballet syllabus which in turn uses the ‘Gail Grant Technical Manual and Dictionary of Classical Ballet‘ for all of it‘s terminology. Diagrams may be different to what you are used to based on the school of ballet that you follow.
